Training for 1,400+ Professionals and More to Come

A core mission of the Cold Climate Stormwater Center of Excellence is to ensure the latest science and most effective practices reach the stormwater management and winter maintenance professionals who need it most.

Between July and December 2025, the center worked through the University of Minnesota Erosion and Stormwater Management Program to deliver 40 training events through a mix of online and in-person experiences. Collectively these events engaged more than 1,400 practitioners in topics including construction site stormwater management, inspection of permanent stormwater control measures, and industrial stormwater management.

With center support, the Erosion and Stormwater Management Certification Program at the University of Minnesota enhanced its stormwater control measure offerings with its first hydrology course, available here. Scholarships are available for select workshops, with a focus on reducing financial barriers for small, rural, and Tribal communities.
